On June 30, the sign blew down when a storm hit Murdo. W 2011 Dodge Durango R / T inds of 70 to 80 miles per hour knocked the sign on its side. After months of reconstruction, the sign – featuring a '26 Nash ni ssan GTR specification – is ready to be displayed again.

"We've worked with sign companies throughout the summer in order to have the sign back by Labor Day," said David M. Geisler of the family-owned classic car museum. The Pioneer Auto Show sign has become a landmark for people traveling to Murdo since 1972, when Interstate 90 opened. The big green car was added to the sign in 1981.
